Hello friends and supporters,

November 20 marks an annual day of significance for the transgender community — the Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR). A day to remember and honor the lives of those we lost to anti-transgender violence. This poignant day serves as a vivid reminder of why the fight for equal rights and recognition for the LGBTQ+ community, and in particular the transgender community, is vital.

Here in Tallahassee, the community-led organizations are passionately committed to fostering an environment of inclusivity, equality, and sanctuary for all individuals. We’re determined to continue this fight, and that’s where we need your help.

The Tallahassee Community Action Committee (TCAC) is leading the preparation for the TDOR commemoration. But this event isn't only about remembering; it is a rallying cry to all to unite in making Tallahassee a sanctuary city. We are standing together, but we are much stronger with your help. 

The proposed designation of Tallahassee as a sanctuary city is not only a nod towards our local government's commitment to protecting LGBTQ+ rights but an important stride towards statewide recognition. We need to stop the arrests of civilians for LGBTQ+-targeted crimes, ensure everyone's right to use bathrooms aligning with their gender identity, and to eliminate discrimination against drag performers at all venues.

Would you like to join us? We are holding a planning meeting on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, via Zoom. We need your input, your passion, and your voice to echo in our community, shouting that all genders deserve safety, respect, and acceptance.
