The Tallahassee Community Action Committee has always been a strong activist group that supports our community. Now, one of our own, Dawn Orocio, needs our help.
Dawn, Vice President of the Committee, recently learned that her father, Milo, has been diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. After a colonoscopy at St. Paul's Hospital in Iloilo, Philippines, they received the news they dreaded. To help her dad get the best possible medical care, Dawn and her family must bring him back to the US. Unfortunately, the journey to recovery is complicated and costly.
As members of this community, it's our responsibility to help our neighbors when they are in need. Dawn has done so much for the national liberation movement in Tallahassee, and now it's our turn to rally behind her and her family.
Dawn has created a GoFundMe campaign to help her family navigate recovery costs. Every little bit helps, and we would greatly appreciate anything you can contribute. But, we must also remember that capitalism only benefits the wealthiest amongst us while the working class struggles. Our support should go beyond mere donations.
As a community, we can support Dawn by sending donations through Cash App and Zelle. Let's stand in solidarity with our neighbor during this difficult time.
The Tallahassee Community Action Committee has always been about supporting our neighbors and fighting against injustice. It's time to come together to support Dawn, her father, and her family as they embark on this journey to recovery. Remember, only we can protect ourselves, and together we are strong.
