OUR MISSION

The Tallahassee Community Action Committee (TCAC) is a local grassroots organization dedicated to peace, justice, and equality through direct action, fighting for community control of the police.

OUR VISION

In times of heightened political intensity, the rich and powerful steal more and more from working, everyday people to line their own pockets. The basic necessities to live, healthy food, dignified housing, and dignified employment, are made harder and harder to obtain. When we the people take the streets with righteous indignation, to demand what we deserve, the main force that will oppose and oppress us will be the police. They always have been, they always will be.

The police do not have a duty to protect the people. They will always protect the rich and their property. Unless we have a better system, our ability to fight for what we deserve will always be limited. 

That system is community control of the police. A Citizen’s Police Accountability Council, with the power to 

• Hire and Fire police officers

• Hold police accountable for misconduct

• Fire the police chief

• Be a part of the bargaining process for TPD

• Elect local civilians to hold power over policing
